The recently threatened to be logged Avatar Grove is located only 15 min. outside of Port Renfrew.  Avatar grows alongside Gordon River, and hosts an old growth forest of giant Red Cedars and Douglas Fir.  The Grove is also home to Canada’s Gnarliest Tree, lush ferns and moss covered roots and rocks.  A short walk through the forest will take you back in time.  A must see while it still stands tall.
